Assault victim found in street

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A 48-year-old assault victim is in critical condition at a hospital and the person responsible for the incident has not been found.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded at 2 p.m. Monday to a report of a man down in the 500 block of Ada Street.

Officers arrived and saw the unresponsive victim lying in the street. He appeared to have been struck in the head with a blunt object, according to a police news release.

The victim was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital.

Police said the motive or suspect is unknown at this time.
