RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The search continues for a man who is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, and then stealing and crashing her vehicle.

Authorities are looking for Lamir Dante Britton, 28. He is wanted on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, motor vehicle theft and fleeing and eluding police. He is considered dangerous.

Kalamazoo County sheriff's deputies were dispatched at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment at 5571 Meadowstone Dr. in Richland Township.

That is where Britton allegedly assaulted his 27-year-old ex-girlfriend and then stole her vehicle, police said in a news release.

Britton allegedly then went back to her apartment and assaulted her again -- this time with a knife, police said -- and then drove away again from the scene in her vehicle.

Deputies spotted that vehicle near Gull and Sprinkle roads and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect sped away and a chase ensued.

At one point during the chase a police vehicle was damaged.

Police put down Stop Sticks in the road, which resulted in the suspect crashing the vehicle into the sign at Gull Party Store, 1930 Gull Road.

Britton got out of the vehicle and ran away.

Police have yet to find him, so anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
