KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A large apartment fire has displaced residents at the Woodstone Apartment complex, located on Woodstone Drive in Kalamazoo.

The Kalamazoo Public Safety Department told 24 Hour News 8 that the fire started at 11:53 p.m. Friday and was under control at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said when they arrived at the scene they had to search the building and wake up sleeping residents.

Lt. David Boysen told 24 Hour News 8 that crews cleared the scene at around 5:30 a.m.

Residents in 60 apartment units were displaced due to power outages and damage to the roof, officials said.

Officers believe the fire started in the attic, or roof area and was electric in nature.

No one was hurt, according to the Kalamazoo Public Safety Department.
