KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Alamo Drafthouse Cinema announced it will open its first location in the state in Kalamazoo. The 10-screen theater will be located at 180 Portage St., the former home of the Rave Cityplace 14.
"Kalamazoo reminds me a lot of our hometown of Austin with its strong economy, large university, great beer scene and solid arts community. We are very excited about this opportunity and to become a part of the neighborhood," said Alamo CEO Tim League.
Alamo Drafthouse takes the idea of dinner and a movie and morphs it into one experience. It shows first-run movies, independent films and special programming events. It also includes a culinary kitchen with servers who quietly attend to customers throughout the movie.
Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo will feature new releases, repertory programming and signature programming with seating for 900 moviegoers.
