COOPER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Four people were hospitalized Sunday after a two-car head-on crash in Cooper Township.

The accident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. near Douglas and 16th Street.

Esther Wolthuis, of Cooper Township, was driving south on Douglas when she took a curve and crossed the center line into another vehicle. The 67-year-old hit a car driven by 60-year-old Edith Deneau, of Kalamazoo.

Each driver had one passenger. After the crash, three people were taken to Bronson Hospital and the other was taken to Borgess.

Wolthuis was listed in critical condition, but she was upgraded to fair condition Sunday night.

Police don't know why she crossed the center line, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
