GALESBURG, Mich. (WOOD) - 24 Hour News 8 obtained a 24-minute video that shows what happened before and after former bus supervisor Heidi Mullin was caught on video slamming 7-year-old Hunter Dawson up against the wall of a Galesburg-Augusta school bus. Mullin was fired from her position with the private Ohio based bus company Auxilio after the incident.
Prosecutors decided last week not to charge Mullin -- in part, they told 24 Hour News 8, because of video she took with her cell phone. The other factors that went into the decision were medical records and witness interviews.
Mullin's attorney would not provide 24 Hour News 8 the entire video last week, saying Mullin was deciding if she wanted to take any legal action against Auxilio. But 24 Hour News 8 was able to obtain the entire video from authorities Thursday via the Freedom of Information Act.
==Watch above: The full video shot by Mullin.==
The video starts with both 7-year-old Hunter Dawson and Mullin already on the bus. In the video, Hunter screams repeatedly at Mullin and throws his backpack at her. He calls her an idiot and tells her to shut up.
Mullin repeatedly tells him to sit down and to stop "accosting" her. In a part of the video where the camera is turned away, someone can be heard yelling. Mullin replies, "I am not allowed to hit you, but I am allowed to defend myself."
Mullin can be heard asking the driver to call the boy's parents to pick him up at the bus stop.
Several kids yelled to call the police, to which Mullin replied that they had already been called. 24 Hour News 8 did not hear her make such a call or request that call be made.
An unidentified voice on the bus yells, "You hit Hunter!" To which she yells back, "No, I did not! Now sit down!"
Mullin appears to sit next to the boy on the bus. About five minutes later, he can be seen standing with his jacket and appearing to lunge towards her.
Mullin said at this point, the boy threw his jacket over her head and choked her. The video's angle does not show whether or not the coat went over Mullin's head or if she was choked.
That's when the incident happened, and Mullin pushed Hunter into the side of the bus. You can hear a thump and then Hunter's crying.
"Sit down!" Mullin says loudly in the video.
"Holy crap, dude!" another child yells in the chaos.
"You attack me one more time, one more time, and see what happens!" Mullin yells at Hunter.
The boy can be heard crying for several more minutes. Many children scream and say things like, "This bus is screwed up."
"He attacked me one more time. One more time that makes twice! You will not attack me or anyone else on this bus," Mullin says in the video.
There's a lot of yelling and crying for the next few minutes until the bus appears to get to the boy's bus stop. He climbs over bus seats to get off and away from Mullin.
When 24 Hour News 8 spoke to Mullin last week, she said she was defending herself and that the boy had his sweatshirt over her head and was choking her.
Prosecutors said the longer video, combined with witness interviews and medical reports, was why they decided not to charge Mullin with assault.
