KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man was found stabbed to death -- apparently by his girlfriend -- at a Kalamazoo Township apartment Tuesday, according to county authorities.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday identified the victim as 25-year-old Marcus Mahone of Kalamazoo.

The 19-year-old woman is cooperating with investigators.

Police were first called to Comstock Village Apartments around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday after a report of a domestic dispute, Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas confirmed to 24 Hour News 8.

Upon arriving at the apartment in the 5400 block of East H Avenue in Comstock Township, police found Mahone dead.

Also in the apartment was a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old, who were not hurt and who were removed from the residence.

A woman who was dating the man told authorities she had stabbed him, Matyas said.

"We're not going to say whether it's criminal or self-defense. We just really don't know," said Matyas. "We put the facts together, give it to the prosecutor and let the prosecutor make that determination."

The circumstances surrounding the stabbing are still under investigation.
