GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The Michigan Economic Growth Authority board approved more than $100 million in tax credits Tuesday for two West Michigan projects that could bring more than 700 jobs to the area.
Two new battery plants, Fortu PowerCell and Toda America, will expand respectively in Muskegon Township and Battle Creek.
Fortu plans to open an office April 1 and says it will break ground on the plant about one year later. Hiring should start in 2012, according to company representatives.
Toda America is expected to invest $70 million in the area and bring 57 new jobs. It would begin developing the new plant in April.
