KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - The 18-year-old who fell off the balcony of a fraternity house near Western Michigan University early Wednesday morning was legally drunk at the time, investigators said.

Jordyn Sanderson's blood alcohol level was .18, more than twice the legal limit of .08. She remains in critical condition at Bronson Hospital.

The investigation continues into what happened at the Sigma Pi house, where more than 200 party-goers were at the time she fell from the second-story balcony just before 1 a.m. September 1.

The city closed down the house after the fall, citing a number of housing code violations. A two-year occupancy certification expired August 26, and owners had been in contact with inspectors to arrange a meeting. But the inspection had not taken place at the time Sanderson fell.

Fraternity houses with a history of problems are watched more closely by city inspectors, but the Sigma Pi house wasn't among them.

However, the violations found in the house during Wednesday's inspection were alarming enough to warrant condemnation of the house.
