PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - Portage investigators are trying to determine how an infant died Tuesday afternoon.
Police went to a home in the 6400 block of Independence Drive just before 1 p.m. after the infant was found not breathing, authorities say. Emergency responders attempted to revive the baby.
The child was taken to a hospital but died a short time later.
Investigators executed search warrants at the home to try to determine what caused the infant's death. An autopsy is planned for Wednesday.
The incident remains under investigation.
