KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A Kalamazoo man is behind bars after taking two children out of school without permission, Kalamazoo Township police said.

Authorities were notified around 3:50 p.m. Monday that a non-custodial parent had removed his two male children from Martin Luther King Elementary without proper authorization, according to Township Police. School officials were able to provide officers with information about the man.

Within about 40 minutes, police found 41-year-old Anthony Bloodworth and the children, ages 6 and 9, at a home in the 800 block of Woodward Avenue in Kalamazoo.

The unharmed children were returned to their custodial parent.

Bloodworth resisted arrest, police said, but was taken into custody. He was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Bloodworth was charged Tuesday with two counts of resisting and obstructing police.
