KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A newlywed wife was charged with supplying the heroin that killed her husband just 22 days after they were married.

Harold Cartwright died June 25, 2012 in part, the medical examiner determined, from heroin supplied by his wife. He was 43.

Kathryn Cartwright, 39, turned herself in to authorities on Oct. 12 to face a charge of delivering a controlled substance resulting in death.

Officers went to their home in the 500 block of Dayton Avenue in Kalamazoo Township the day he died.

Police say that Kathryn Cartwright told them she and her husband used heroin together after making a deal. Cartwright told police that her husband agreed to do the heroin with her if she had sex with another man in front of him.

Authorities say Cartwright bought $100 worth of heroin, and she and her husband used it together. Later that night, police say Kathryn Cartwright fulfilled her part of the deal while her husband lay passed out. In the morning, she found her husband dead.

Her preliminary exam is set for Oct. 24 and the investigation continues. If convicted on the charges, she faces up to life in prison.
