Police investigate a deadly shooting in the 1500 block of Beacon Street in Kalamazoo Sunday night. (Oct. 4, 2010)

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A man was shot and killed late Sunday in Kalamazoo, police say.
The shooting happened around 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of Beacon Street. Police identified the victim Monday as Joseph Abdou Salib.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the scene and found the gunshot victim, a 38-year-old Kalamazoo man, unconscious. People at the scene were trying to put Salib in a vehicle and take him to a hospital.
Officers and other rescue personnel arrived and gave Salib first aid, but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police the suspect was a black man wearing a ski mask and dark clothing, and ran away before officers arrived. Police continue to search for the shooter.
