BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - FireKeepers Casino repaid a $35 million loan four years earlier than its due date.
The casino, along I-94 at Exit 104, opened a year ago. The $35 million loan helped the casino owners, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, buy nearly 2,700 slot machines and was paid off on August 12, 2010.
In a statement, the owners said the FireKeepers Casino has performed well and "has been an economic engine for south central Michigan."
About 1,500 people work at the casino in Calhoun County.
