EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - After more than 10 years of planning, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indians Wednesday opened the doors to the FireKeepers Casino.
The $300 million property is located along I-94 at Exit 104, east of Battle Creek.
Gamblers waited in lines all morning long outside the facility before the doors opened.
More than 1,500 full and part-time employees have been hired to staff the 236,000 square foot property.
The casino showcases a 107,000 square foot gaming floor, featuring Las Vegas-style gaming:
FireKeepers offers five new distinctive restaurants, multiple lounges and entertainment venues.
The casino features 3,000 parking spaces, including a 2,080 space covered parking garage.
