BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - One of the hardest-hit areas in West Michigan after Sunday morning's storms was Battle Creek, where many buildings -- including the Chapel Hill Methodist Church -- sustained structural damage.
Trees were uprooted in several neighborhoods, and at Chapel Hill, a large section of the roof was torn off. Rev. James Gysel said his congregation is dealing with the damage as best as they can. Watch the video to hear from him.
Late Sunday night, the National Weather Service officially declared Battle Creekâs storm a tornado. An EF damage rating will be released Monday.
Nighttime storms are usually not officially declared tornadoes until the next day because meteorologists need to analyze the storm damage patterns.
