KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A man who has been on the run since December 2011 after an April 2011 homicide has been arrested.
Samuel Steel was arrested by an FBI Task Force north of Atlanta, Georgia, according to Kalamazoo authorities.
Milo Conklin, 35, was shot and killed on April 24, 2011. Authorities issued a warrant for Steel's arrest in December 2011.
Steel, 43, is being held in a Georgia county jail pending extradition to Michigan, where he will face six charges: open murder, assault with intent to murder, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm.
Police in Kalamazoo also say Steel was involved a dog fighting operation busted in April 2012. He may face charges of animal fighting and breeding or training animals for fighting in that case.
Harry Mathews II, 42, of Kalamazoo was arrested in late December in connection with the death of Conklin.
