OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Authorities are investigating two home invasions in Oshtemo Township that appear to have targeted Kalamazoo Valley Community College basketball players.

The incidents happened Tuesday at Copper Beech Townhomes along West KL Avenue, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office. The perpetrator entered two units near one another through unlocked balcony doors.

The residents of the apartments play basketball for KVCC. They returned from their Tuesday night game to find their apartments ransacked.

Victims said more than $1,000 in cash, electronics, clothes and shoes were stolen.

Even though they lost the game and their belongings, the players have a good attitude.

"It's frustrating. At the same time that we got things taken, but at the same time we still ended up with what most people don't have. And I just feel like for someone to come in here and take what they did, they must have needed it more than we did," said Detayvia Moore, one of the basketball players.

The thefts weren't random because the timing and the fact they were the only two apartments hit, according to the Sheriff's Office.

There are no suspects at this time.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office at 269.383.8748 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
