KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - One man was shot to death and another injured in an early Sunday morning shooting in Kalamazoo, and a 19-year-old man is being held on multiple charges.
Shortly after 1 a.m., gunshots were fired near Stadium Drive Apartments in the 4200 block of Lakesedge Drive. When officers arrived they found a 23-year-old man gravely wounded and an 18-year-old man injured by a bullet.
The 23-year-old, Janta Mackeral, was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital by an unknown person. He died at the hospital a short time later. The 18-year-old is being treated at Bronson and expected to survive.
A 19-year-old man from Kalamazoo was arrested. Tyrein Deanthony Sheppard was arraigned Tuesday on six charges: open murder, two counts of assault with intent to commit murder and three felony firearms charges.
