BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - Several West Michigan companies are getting tax breaks to create jobs locally.
State incentives will help 14 companies expand with a goal of creating an additional 4,500 jobs.
Among the companies with plans to hire is auto supplier Cosma International, which plans to open a location in Battle Creek. The state has approved up to $162 million in tax credits for the casting facility, which the company hopes will employ 572 people.
Also in Battle Creek, DENSO Manufacturing -- another auto supplier -- has been awarded state grants to expand and hire up to 266 workers.
In Coopersville, Fair Oaks Farms Brands plans to invest $127 million into its plant and hire an additional 133 workers.
Drug manufacturer Perrigo is getting tax incentives to add a new facility in Holland Township. The $30 million plan would add up to 530 jobs.
Many of these projects are early in the process and still have some details to be worked out before construction begins on the new facilities.
The governor's office said many of the companies that received tax breaks chose Michigan over other states.
