ORANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A gunman was arrested after allegedly threatening fellow campers at a campground -- a situation that climaxed into a standoff with police.
Ionia County sheriff's deputies, Michigan State Police troopers, the Ionia County Critical Incident Team and Portland police officers were dispatched to Lakeside Resort Campground to investigate a call about a domestic situation.
The suspect had gone into his camper trailer when authorities arrived about 10:15 p.m. Thursday at the site at 750 E. Grand River Ave. in Orange Township.
Police set up a perimeter and tried to establish contact with the gunman who was uncooperative.
"After several attempts were made, the entry team was deployed," according to a news release, and able to make contact with the suspect who was taken into custody peacefully on several weapons charges.
