Belding HS student struck by car

BELDING, Mich. (WOOD) - A car struck a Belding High School student Thursday afternoon, the school principal confirmed to 24 Hour News 8.

The incident happened around 4:18 p.m. near the intersection of Ionia Street and E. State Street (M-44) in Belding, not far from the high school, police said.

The student attempted to cross M-44 from the south shoulder to the north shoulder, and struck by an eastbound vehicle, according to the Belding Police Department.

The male victim was taken to a hospital, but the extent of his injuries is unknown.

The crash remains under investigation.
