ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) - Roger Polmanteer, accused of killing his own 73-year-old father earlier this week in Allegan County, has died, police say.

The Allegan County Sheriff's Department was notified of his death about 4 this afternoon.

Detectives were never able to speak with him due to the injuries he sustained when he shot himself behind the Village Inn restaurant in Allegan Friday.

Police say the investigation into the murder of his father, Lloyd, will continue.

Roger Polmanteer was considered the prime suspect in the shooting death of his father, Lloyd.

The original incident happened at the family's farmhouse on 14th street near 115th Avenue in Watson Township, police said.
