OVERISEL, Mich. (WOOD) - Several departments responded to a house fire in downtown Overisel on Saturday morning.
The house, 4755 142nd Ave., is right next to the fire department. It's the home of Ken Whitcomb and his family and was built in the 1800s. The people and pets inside the home were able to escape but the house was destroyed, a neighbor told 24 Hour News 8.
The first firefighters were dispatched at around 10:19 a.m., according to Allegan County dispatch.
Overisel Township firefighters were assisted by at least five departments from Allegan and Ottawa counties including Hamilton, Salem Township, Zeeland Charter Township, and Holland City.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters had cleared the scene around 4 p.m.
