Teen stabbed by stepmother

Boy's stepmother and father were arrested

Monica Ellen Embree, 36, has been arraigned on a charge of assault with intent to murder her 14-year-old stepson.

She allegedly stabbed him in the back with a knife according to a news release from Allegan County detectives and court records.

The boy's father, Joseph, is also charged in the case. He is accused with being an accessory to the crime by allegedly trying to cover it up when he took his son to an emergency room for treatment.

The crime reportedly happened April 17.

Neither the sheriff's department news release nor court records show where the incident happened.

The Embrees live at 4103 Ranchero Drive in Dorr.

Bond for Monica Embree was set at a half million dollars and her husband's bond is set at $250,000.

The 14-year-old victim is reportedly staying with relatives.
