MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Authorities on Thursday morning recovered the body of a Barry County woman who disappeared while walking her dog on her farm.
Police have not yet said specifically where they found her, but told 24 Hour News 8 they believed she died from natural causes. An autopsy will be performed.
Joan Marie Staskus, 62, disappeared around 3 p.m. Wednesday on her property in the 7700 block of Gould Road in Maple Grove Township. The dog returned to the home but Staskus did not.
Staskus' husband, who uses a wheelchair, began to search the family's 46-acre farm on Wednesday. When he could not find her, he called some family members to help search. They then called police who used a helicopter and dogs.
