WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The Gun Lake Casino, after years of planning, wrangling and building, will open their doors on Feb. 11.
The announcement was made at 4 p.m. near Exit 61, south of Wayland, at the casino's location.
As 24 Hour News 8 reported last year, casino officials have targeted an opening date of mid-February.
This is the final stretch of the lengthy project that dates back to 1999. Construction on the casino didn't start until 2009, after officials faced a legal fight that nearly made it to the Michigan Supreme Court.
The $157 million project is much smaller than the originally planned casino.
Casino officials said they were looking to fill 700 positions. As of early Friday morning, the company's website had 11 job openings posted.
