MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - Gov. Jennifer Granholm is ordering a change in the law that threatened a Middleville woman for watching her neighbors kids while they wait for the bus.
In a 24 Hour News 8 report last week, Lisa Snyder's story came to light. The State Department of Human Services told her she was operating an illegal day care for watching the kids.
Tuesday, Granholm ordered Michigan Department of Human Services Director Ismael Ahmed to work with the state legislature to change the law. Earlier in the day Ahmed released a statement saying good neighbors should not be punished for their actions.

Lisa Snyder of Middleville says it's "ridiculous" that she faces fines and possible jail for being a good neighbor and watching two children for less than hour without getting paid.
Snyder appeared Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show. The stay-at-home mom said DHS officials ordered her to stop watching the kids, obtain a state license or face possible penalties.
Snyder said she doesn't know who filed the complaint against her, but it must be "someone close by who can see what's going on."
