WOOD TV8 wins MAB's Station of the Year

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) - WOOD TV8 has been named the Station of the Year by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

This marks the 10th time in 12 years that WOOD TV8 has received the award.

In addition, WOOD TV8 also earned several other MAB awards, which were announced at a Wednesday evening event in Lansing.

• Investigative story by Marlee Ginter on the hidden dangers of used cars
• Mini-documentary or series by Ken Kolker looking at the homeless camps of West Michigan

• Laura Velasquez's July 15, 2012 weathercast

Merit awards for:

• Steve Kelso's feature on a Richland husband and wife who died only days apart after 58 years of marriage
• Ken Kolker's investigative story on a man who died after nearby emergency personnel were not called because of jurisdictional lines
• Maranda's Park Parties
• Ken Kolker's mini-documentary or series on accused killer John White
• Rick Albin's news special To The Point on Michigan's right-to-work legislation from Dec. 16, 2012
• 24 Hour News 8 at 11 p.m. newscast when the escapees were captured on Oct. 11, 2012
• Maranda's special interest programming Where You Live featuring the River Bank Run
• Jack Doles' sports reports from Indianapolis for the February 2012 Super Bowl
