GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A West Michigan pastor is in Vatican City witnessing the excitement surrounding the conclave.

Father Robert Sirico is the pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Grand Rapids.

He is currently in Rome for the election of a new pope, reporting for the BBC and other TV networks.

He talked live via Skype from Rome with students at Sacred Heart of Jesus School Wednesday morning.

The students were able to ask the pastor questions about the conclave and what it's like in Rome right now.

"This experience gives them that realistic moment where they're able to connect and see Rome in the background and understand a little better what little nuances there are," Sacred Heart of Jesus School Principal Tim Walsh said.

Sirico plans to return to West Michigan shortly before Easter.
