GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Fred Meijer was a smart businessman, a generous philanthropist, a West Michigan icon, and, many have said, simply a good man.

Meijer died on Friday, Nov. 25, after suffering a stroke. He was 91.

Meijer was remembered on Tuesday at a public visitation at Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park -- the lines to the visitation room were long all day -- and on Wednesday at a memorial service.

West Michigan bids Meijer goodbye.
