GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - One person is dead and another suffered serious injuries after the two were shot at a Grand Rapids bar early Saturday.
Nobody has been arrested in the case.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. at the New Roosevelt Bar, 1447 Grandville Ave. SW.
Grand Rapids police received a 911 call saying at least one person had been shot outside the bar and the victim was being transported to a hospital. Responding officers saw a car traveling at a high speed and followed the car to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital's emergency entrance, believing the car was transporting the victim.
When the car stopped at the hospital, the officers found two victims that had been shot. One of the victims was conscious, but the other was unresponsive.
Police said one of the victims died at the hospital and the other is in serious but stable condition.
Family members told 24 Hour News 8 that 26-year-old Wellington Guevara was the person who died. Guevara was a Grand Rapids Union High School graduate who leaves behind a son and daughter.
The identity of the second victim has not been released.
