GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Anabel de la Rosa of the Dominican Republic suffered from a serious heart defect as an infant.
In 1995 she came to Grand Rapids, with the help of Healing the Children, to have life-saving surgery.
The organization "envisions a world where every child has access to medical care," according to its website.
The 17-year-old returned to West Michigan on Tuesday to thank her doctors and her host family.
