GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A man arrested after an hours-long standoff in Grand Rapids entered into a plea deal last month that allowed him to be sentenced to less than a year behind bars.
Alonzo Montez Gamble pleaded guilty Dec. 3, 2012 to one count of felony assault with a dangerous weapon.
As part of the deal with prosecutors, a maximum sentence of one year in the county jail was recommended. Gamble was sentenced Monday to nine months in jail and four years probation.
Additionally, the three other counts Gamble faced -- a second count of assault with a dangerous weapon, a count of resisting and obstructing police and one count of interfering with a communications device -- were dropped.
Gamble, 24, was arrested after a four-hour standoff in which he allegedly held his recently separated girlfriend against her will inside a Grand Rapids apartment during the morning of Nov. 23, 2012. The woman was not hurt.
