TACOMA, Wash. (WOOD) - A soldier from Michigan died in a car crash in Washington.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports Spc. Ryan Abbott crashed into an old and empty guard shack at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma.
US Army officials list the 35-year-old as being from Grand Rapids. They did not have details about the wreck that occurred Sept. 6.
Case Funeral Home in Saginaw has posted Abbott's obituary.
Abbott joined the Army in September 2009 and was assigned to Lewis-McChord in August 2010. He served with the 46th Air Support Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.
