GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A dispute over the price of a pack of cigarettes led to gunshots being fired at Eastern Gas and Grocery in Grand Rapids around 3 p.m. Feb. 1.
Tyrell Harris, 19, from Chicago, was arraigned Monday with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and weapons felony firearm. His bond was set at $50,000.
Police said he tried to buy the smokes at the store, 3260 Eastern Ave. SE. He was 25 cents short and the store clerk wouldn't sell him the cigarettes at a discounted price.
Harris allegedly left the store and fired off several rounds at the business. No one was injured by the gunshots.
Using a police dog, investigators tracked Harris and took him into custody.
A search of his apartment turned up two handguns, which were seized, a spokesperson for GRPD told 24 Hour News 8.
