GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A reward is being offered for information in the death of a Grand Rapids woman killed just before Christmas.
Robyn Griggs-Johnson, 47, was shot in her Prince Street SE home on Dec. 18, 2012. Her family is desperate for answers and the public's help.
Bobby Griggs lost his mother nearly a month ago and still doesn't know who killed her.
"There's multiple families out here being hurt for no reason, no apparent reason," said Griggs. "It all just seems senseless right now, it just seems senseless."
Griggs-Johnson was a mother, grandmother and active in her church and community.
Her son is confident someone knows who committed the crime, and he's hoping someone will come forward now that there is a reward for information.
"It's not easy to go tell on somebody, but it's definitely not easy for us to deal with our mother gone and we don't know nothing, we don't have a reason, we don't have a cause," said Griggs. "It's definitely not easy."
The Grand Rapids Police Major Case Team is investigating Griggs-Johnson's death, but hasn't been able to pinpoint a suspect or a motive.
Griggs said he just had the worst December of his life. His mother's death is among six still-unsolved homicides in Grand Rapids since mid-December.
"I just really want the community to know that at the end this violence, it's got to stop one way or another, and at the end we all stand together and come up to some type of understanding and resolution with the situation," said Griggs.
There is now a $1,000 reward for information in Griggs-Johnson's murder.
Her family is hoping the community will donate to that fund to increase the reward to $5,000. Radio station WYGR is facilitating the reward. To donate, contact WYGR at 616.452.8589.
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department at 616.456.3400 or Silent Observer at 616.774.23485.
