GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 22-year-old man, already serving time in a maximum security prison, was arrested, charged and arraigned for the 2007 murder of Russell Griffin.
Alvon Marquis Davis allegedly gunned down the 19-year-old Griffin as he entered his home on Cromwell SE in Grand Rapids early on April 9, 2007.
Over time, the case went cold. Recently, new leads were developed and the Metro Cold Case team began a new investigation, which pointed to Davis.
He's charged with second-degree murder, felony firearm and being an habitual offender.
Davis is in the Ionia prison on an unrelated crime. He waived his preliminary hearing on Oct. 30 in the Griffin case. He's being held in the Kent County Jail until a status conference is held on this case.
