A description of the suspect has not been released.
A stretch of Prince Street SE between Kalamazoo and Eastern avenues was closed as police were at the scene for about an hour and a half.
Wanted was a man believed to have fired gunshots at his girlfriend inside a home, though no one was hurt.
Police surrounded the residence on Prince Street SE where they thought the man was located.
A SWAT team arrived at the scene around 10:45 p.m. As members approached the house, there was a lot of yelling in the street.
By 11:25 p.m., police had cleared the house and the man was not inside.
Children were removed from the home and placed in a police cruiser.
The landlord told 24 Hour News 8 he has never had an issue with the tenants of the home.
