GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A West Michigan man is jailed in connection with a fatal crash that killed a 22-year-old Grand Rapids woman riding in a minivan he was driving.
Calvin Liptrot Jr. is charged with second offense domestic violence, operating while intoxicated causing death and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.
Michelle Caverley was thrown from the minivan after it struck a tree Saturday morning . The driver ran away, leaving Caverley at the scene. She died at a local hospital.
Police later located and arrested Liptrot. Alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
