Man stabbed breaking up bar argument

Victim is expected to survive

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A man is in police custody after he was arrested for stabbing a man outside a Grand Rapids bar multiple times early Wednesday morning.

Police told 24 Hour News 8 the stabbing happened in the parking lot outside Konkle's Bar in the 600 block of Bridge Street on Grand Rapids northwest side just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

According to police the suspect was thrown out of the bar and then got into an argument with a bartender in the parking lot.

A man watching the argument stepped in to try and break it up when he was stabbed multiple times.

He was rushed to a Grand Rapids hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to survive.

The suspect was detained by witnesses until police were able to get to the scene and arrest him.

He is currently lodged in the Kent County Jail.
