GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A pickup truck was struck by a train after the truck's owner parked too close to the tracks.

A man parked his truck near the train tracks in the area of Bridge Street and Seward Avenue NW in Grand Rapids Tuesday evening and went into nearby El Sombrero for dinner, according to police.

Officers who were going into the restaurant for dinner noticed the truck was parked too close to the tracks and warned the owner. The owner of the truck didn't believe the officers.

Within moments of the officers addressing the truck's owner, the truck was hit by an oncoming CSX freight train.

The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of impact. There are no reports of injuries.
