GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Jeffrey Malmberg will spend up to 90 years in prison for killing Jozlynn Martinez and disposing of her body in February.
Malmberg, convicted in October of the child's death, was sentenced on three counts:
All the sentences will run concurrently, and Malmberg received credit for 250 days already served.
Malmberg, 40, killed the 2-year-old when he knelt on her chest after she had a temper tantrum. He then disposed of her body in a trash bin, and it is believed she was incinerated at a waste-to-energy facility.
Her body has never been found.
Jozlynn's godmother wanted Malmberg to receive a sentence of life in prison. His attorney said he expects Malmberg to appeal the conviction.
