GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - One person died in a single-car crash on I-196 near US-131 early Saturday morning.
Around 2:13 a.m., the car going westbound on I-196, with four people inside, lost control on the highway.
A 28-year-old male, who was the driver, died at the scene.
Three other people were taken to the hospital. A female passenger was ejected from the car and sustained serious injuries. Another female passenger was pinned in the car when authorities arrived and also suffered serious injuries. The third passenger, a male, had minor injuries.
Michigan State Police say the female passengers are in stable condition.
Authorities believe speed and alcohol played a factor in the accident. The names of those involved have not been released.
