GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids Police are investigating what they suspect was an attempted armed robbery Sunday morning after a man showed up at a local hospital with a bullet wound to the back.

Police say the 22-year-old victim was a passenger in a Chevy Malibu that was approached by a masked man near the corner of Eastern Avenue and Oakhill after 3:30 am.

They say the man had a bandanna covering his face and was armed with a long gun, when he tapped on the car glass indicating to roll down the window.

Instead, the female driver sped off and the masked man fired one round at the fleeing car hitting the passenger.

Police say the the victim had just left a large house party in the area before the shooting. His injuries are non life threatening.

The shooting is under investigation.
