GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The body of a woman was found in an apartment on the southwest side of Grand Rapids just hours after her tires were slashed.

Around 3:50 p.m. Saturday police were called to the Walnut Grove Apartments in the 700 block of Dorchester Avenue SW.

Other investigators were dispatched. Police told 24 Hour News 8 the tires on the woman's vehicle were slashed the night before.

Family members identified the woman as 20-year-old Eve'Vana Galloway.

Galloway's sister, Quadeidre, told 24 Hour News 8 she heard about the death from her 2-year-old nephew.

Quadeidre Galloway said she called her sister's phone Saturday afternoon, and that the boy answered the call.

"He said he can't wake my mommy up," Galloway described through tears Saturday.

Galloway made a promise to her sister. "We're going to take care of my nephew. We not going to let anything happen to him," she said.

The 2-year-old, whom 24 Hour News 8 is choosing not to identify, was kept in the back of a police cruiser for some of the investigation.

Investigators will try to talk to him to see if he saw anything.

Quadeidre Galloway told 24 Hour News 8 that her sister had received some threatening phone calls in recent weeks, and that Friday night Eve'Vana's car tires were slashed.

Quadeidre Galloway told 24 Hour News 8 she doesn't know who was making the threats.
