GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Despite breaking his ankle during a chase, a Grand Rapids Police officer was able to catch and handcuff the suspect.
Sometime Friday night, the officer stopped a driver near the area of Logan Street and Benjamin Avenue.
After the officer stopped the car, the driver ran and the officer followed.
GRPD officials did not give specifics on how it happened, but did say the officer chasing the suspect broke his ankle in two places during the pursuit.
Despite the injury, the officer still caught the suspect and handcuffed him. It is unknown why the suspect ran away from the officer during the traffic stop.
