GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapid 19-year-old will stand trial for allegedly carrying a concealed firearm during the funeral procession of a recent murder victim.

Cordell Collins allegedly showed a .44 caliber revolver during the funeral procession of Greg Woods Jr., according to Grand Rapids police. He was charged with one count of carrying a concealed firearm after being arrested during a traffic stop.

Collins has a gang affiliation, according to GRPD, as did Woods. Police said Collins had the weapon "for his protection."

Woods, 18, was shot during the evening of Jan. 8 after answering the door of his southeast-side home.

Collins waived a preliminary exam Tuesday, sending his case to trial. A court date has not yet been set.

He is being held in the Kent County Correctional Facility on a $30,000 cash or surety bond.
