GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids Police Chief Kevin Belk was involved in a car crash with a teen boy on a bicycle on the city's northwest side.

The crash happened at the intersection of Scribner and Leonard streets.

Two children, a 13-year-old and an 11-year-old, were on the same bike with which Belk's car collided, said GRPD spokesman Ralph Mason.

Witnesses said other police arrived on the scene quickly after the collision.

The 11-year-old ran, but police later found him uninjured and interviewed him, Mason said.

Belk is back to work after visiting the boy in the hospital and talking to his mother.

Mason said he also visited the boy in the hospital and took him back to his northwest-side home. The boy sustained a cut lip and bump on his head and was in the hospital for less than two hours.

The crash remains under investigation, Mason said.
