GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A man was shot to death outside an apartment complex in Grand Rapids, and the search for the suspect continues.

Officers were dispatched at 11 p.m. Aug. 29 to a report of gunshots being fired outside Camelot Woods Apartments in the 3800 block of Camelot Drive SE.

They arrived and saw a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound and unconscious "in an area of landscaping adjacent to a parking lot," according to a news release.

An ambulance crew arrived at the scene but could not revive the victim.

Some residents of the apartment complex told 24 Hour News 8 that a group of men often hangs out for several hours at a time near a Dumpster in the parking lot.

But police are not sure if that was the case when the suspect walked up to the victim between two buildings and shot him near that Dumpster. Although, other people were at the scene besides the shooter and victim, witnesses said.

The shooter ran from the scene and a description of the suspect is not available at this time.

You are asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department at 616.456.3604 or Silent Observer at 616.774.2345 if you know anything about this incident.
